Philippians 3:1
The conclusion of your faith is extreme gladness in the Lord, He is your constant reference to bliss!  I am not just saying this to be repetitive; joy is your fortress!  There is no safer place to be, but to be ecstatically happy!

Being in Christ, we always have a reason to be ecstatically happy!  Paul had such a revelation of being in Christ, that even in prison he was rejoicing.  He probably wasn't forcing himself to rejoice, it was just a genuine heart response!  Acts 16:25-26 says, "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.  Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone's chains came loose."
Paul's praise changed his situation completely.  His goal was just to worship Jesus, the result was freedom!  The result was that his chains came off!  He chose to have joy in the midst of difficulty!  "There is NO safer place to be, but to be ecstatically happy!"
It doesn't matter what is going on around us, we can always make the decision to be filled with joy.  Like Paul, we too can come to the realization that we are in Christ seated in the heavenly realm.
Situations going on around us do not have to dictate our attitudes.  As Christians, we can live in the reality of overwhelming joy!  It is a safe place to be.
