“Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.”
Ephesians 5:2

I took my class outside today for recess and this wonderful smell of flowers was blowing in the air.  I looked around and there on the side was a tree, now in full bloom with the fragrant flowers.  What a blessing.  The smell that surrounded me made me “feel” His love.
The trees and flowers were made for us.  How wonderful that God thought to put them here for our enjoyment.  “Then God said, "Let the land sprout with vegetation--every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came." And that is what happened.”  (Gen 1:11)

The perfect sacrifice of Jesus, for us, the fragrant sweet smelling offering, is pleasing to God.  When He looks at us, He sees His Son and the sweet smell of His offering.  Jesus represents us before God.  We were made righteous with God’s righteousness because of and through Jesus and His sacrifice at the cross.

I don’t know about you, but every time I smell flowers, I want to thank and praise God for sending His Son for me.  I want to thank Jesus for taking my place and paying for my righteousness.  I want to think of the sweet smelling offering that Jesus was - for me.

Smell the flowers and rejoice,
Lori Rola
