1 Peter 2:24
who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

It's really exciting when someone gets saved.  Many Christians, though, water down saved to mean only one thing- Heaven.  What does the Word really mean? SOZO the Greek meaning of saved is-
-to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
-to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health
-to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue
-to save in the technical biblical sense
-to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment
-to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance
You see, when you get saved, you also get healed.  Divine health is a part of the atonement!  When Jesus died for us He literally carried our sicknesses and diseases!  Now we can live healthy, full, abundant lives, all because of the grace of God!
Isaiah 53:4 says, "Surely he bore our diseases, and took our pains; yet we considered him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted."
By His stripes, we ARE healed!  Isaiah 53:4-5 tell us that we ARE healed, 1 Peter 2:24 tells us we WERE healed!  It's a finished work, now all we have to do is believe and receive it!
Matthew 8:17 is a reference to Isaiah 53:4-5 and it says, "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."
PRAISE the Lord, we have a new identity in Christ and that identity is HEALED!
