The Deceiver doesn't want us to recognize bad behavior.  Adults can be just like the child that you see in the store, screaming and crying until (because they know it will work) the parent gives in, and does whatever the child wants.  Do you pout or withdraw from relationships in an attempt to “punish” others?  Persecute people until they come back in repentance?  Are you a “blaster” giving everyone within earshot a piece of your mind?  Anger is self-centeredness in action.  What do you do when someone comes against you?  Who do you think of first?  Do you consider the other person, or are you consumed with defending yourself?

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” (Rom 8:1-2)
We are IN Christ Jesus, not after the flesh.  We are free through Jesus from sin and death.
Don’t spend time dissecting what you have done wrong, instead, praise God for all Jesus did right!   We can’t pay for our past, it’s already been paid for, and our present and our future! (1 John 4:17)

God is persuaded about Christ indwelling us, now he wants us to be equally persuaded!  When you realize how much God loves you and who you really are, you’ll find that any self-centeredness is being replaced by Christ-centeredness.  The more you are in The powerful, life changing Word, the more your mind will be renewed.  “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”  (Rom 12:2)
