Romans 4:21
being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

Abraham was called the father of many nations before he was even a father.  God said in Genesis 17:5, "No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations."
God wasn't lying, He was calling things that were not as though they are!  Abraham believed it.  He trusted God and was FULLY PERSUADED!  The thing is, Abraham decided he would help God- he got into the flesh rather than looking in the spirit.  At the time he wasn't able to conceive with his wife, so he bore a child with his servant.  This wasn't the perfect plan of God.
KNOW that what God promised to you He WILL fulfill.  You don't have to MAKE it happen, just trust God and do what He tells you to do.  Don't look through your flesh and force it.  Look with your spiritual eyes and call things that are not as though they are.
Abraham's son Ishmael was blessed, but it sure did cause a big mess.  Trust God for Isaac.
