John 3:30
He must become greater; I must become less.

Ephesians 4:2
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

This morning on my drive to work I was thinking about a couple of different friends I have.  I started to think about one friend who I have been texting and calling with little to no response.  She lives several hours away so we don't get to see each other very often.  The thing is, I realized I was slightly offended that she hasn't been responding.  I thought "I'm not going to try and contact her again, if she wants to talk to me then she'll have to contact me."
I counted the friendship a loss at that point, because I know she's not the type of person to reach out...
Then my thoughts shifted to Jesus.
What if Jesus did that to me.  I ignore Him,  so He stops pursuing me... I don't answer His call to me, so He never calls again...
I am so thankful that Jesus isn't like that.  I've ignored Him, been too busy for Him, and haven't made time for Him and despite that HES HEALED ME, SET ME FREE, PROSPERED ME, BLESSED ME ABUNDANTLY, and STILL constantly pursues me!
I want to be that kind of friend!  A selfless friend!  A friend who's love is not dependent on the other person's actions.
A friend who loves not because I'm loved by that person, but because I'm loved by God!
What kind of friend are you?
