I had to do a Bible study on Proverbs chapter 31 and came across something interesting. It’s so amazing, how God has made everything!

“She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.” -Proverbs 31:21
Have you ever thought about scarlet?

Scarlet is from a rare worm, the Crimson worm. In Bible days they were kept under special protection and for a good reason. When the worm was crushed, its blood was used to make a special dye reserved exclusively for coloring the robes of the king and his family. I googled for information and found that when it’s time for the Crimson worm to have babies, she attaches herself to wood and forms a protective shell. The babies are born and live under the shell. They feed on the actual living mother. When the babies are able to survive on their own, the mother dies and oozes the scarlet color or dye. It colors the babies and the wood. After three days the dead mother loses her red color and turns into a white wax which falls to the ground like snow.

I wonder if God smiled when He made this worm. Jesus protects us, he shields us. We “feed” on his living Word, The Bible. His blood covers us. Because of His blood, our sins are forgiven and we are washed whiter than snow. After three days, Jesus rose from the grave, victorious and we are now righteous with God’s righteousness (2 Cor 5:21).  The scarlet color is beautiful and was used for royalty. We are royal, children of the King!

If God put that much thought into a worm, imagine how much He loves us!
