"If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?  And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders."
Luke 15:4-5

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about the story of the Shepard (Jesus) who left the 99 to go find the one lost sheep.  It never mentions that the lost sheep was crying out for help or had to give any kind of explanation as to why he wandered off.   It doesn't say that when the shepherd found the sheep, He told him how wrong it was to wander off.  He didn't punish the sheep in any way or tie it up and drag it back.  No, it says that He put the sheep upon His shoulders and carried him back.  Then, He threw a party, "When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep." (Luke 15:6)

I picture myself upon His shoulders,  just resting and enjoying the ride.  Trusting, believing that Jesus loves me so much and left the 99 just for me.  He is doing the walking, the leading and I know He is taking me to green pastures and beautiful waters.  "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul..." (Ps 23).

If you ever find yourself lost, not exactly where you know you should be or want to be, just allow Jesus to put you back upon His shoulders.  Rest.  Rest in His love for you!  Know that He loves you.  He is your good Shepard!  He will take you to the green pastures with all the water you need.

Rest and be blessed,
Lori Rola
