The other day I called my dad needing some advice. He's usually my go-to guy because I know how much he loves the Word of God! As I hung up the phone I realized I had such a peace.
I asked if he could share with you, a small part of what he shared with me.
Love doesn't cover sin, love keeps no record of sin!
Sin has already been dealt with.
1 John 4:10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
I recently heard someone quote Proverbs, stating how love covers a multitude of sins or offenses. I've quoted that many times in my own life, until recently. While meditating on that truth, one day the Holy Spirit encouraged me to now step into the new covenant, new creation, God love.
We are now new creations, created in our Father's image, with our Father's nature. Our Father teaches us that love does not cover but instead love doesn't even take into account wrongs done! Our Father's nature of love causes Him to remember sins and iniquities no more. God is not involved in record keeping. If there is no record of wrong, then there doesn't need to be any covering.
Our new nature which is just like our Fathers takes no account of wrongs, is never jealous, is never prideful, never acts unbecomingly, rejoices in truth, bears, believes, and endures all things.
We are His offspring, we have His nature, and we now, through grace, love like our Father loves!
(1 John 5:4)
