Can we pray for faith and expect to receive it? After all, faith pleases God, so it seems as though praying for faith will cause it to come. Sounds like the “Spiritual” thing to do. But, faith grows out of the Word, not by praying for it. Prayer does not cause faith to work, faith causes prayer to work.

Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Faith will come by hearing the Word. “For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Make it a habit to read the Word every morning before your day gets started.
Don’t have time? Start with 5 minutes. Everyone should have 5 minutes. Set your clock 5 minutes earlier if you have to. Before long you will notice the 5 minutes is just not cutting it and you will want more time with the Lord. It’s worth it! Faith is believing the Word and all that is in it. You have to be in it to get it.

Enjoy the Word, enjoy growing in faith,
