But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6

A lot of people know the first part of this verse, that “Without faith it is impossible to please God”. But, what about the rest of the verse? “For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”. So, the faith that pleases God is the kind of faith that believes that God exists and that He is a rewarder!

The living, powerful Word of God also says in Hebrews 11:1 that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. Even if we do not see good things happening in our lives, we are to believe that God will turn things around and reward us.

Rahab, a harlot in Jericho, heard stories about how the Lord opened the Red Sea for all of the Israelite's to cross through on dry ground. She never met any of them to hear the story first hand and she didn’t go to church and hear a respected pastor preach about it. Rehab wasn't even a “respected” citizen but she believed that “He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath”. (Joshua 2:9-11) Because she believed God, she bravely hid the Jewish spies, saving them from being captured. Her faith saved not only the spies, but her and her family when the Israelite's overtook Jericho (Joshua 6:25). She is listed in the “Hall of faith” in Hebrews 11 and is in the genealogy of Jesus. I would say that she was rewarded!

Believe that God loves you and His Word is true. Believe that God is a rewarder!
