Ephesians 4:32
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

I heard someone say “Unforgiveness and bitterness is like taking poison and thinking it is going to affect the other person”.  That was a real  “Eye-opener” and it’s so true.  You’re only hurting yourself when you stay mad at someone, hold grudges and have bitterness.  These things have made many a person sick and allows satan an inroad into your life.  God did not create us to be able to handle such things.  We are made in His image.

Forgiving when someone has hurt you, sometimes very badly, does not make sense but remember Romans 8:6 “For to be carnally minded (sense and reason without the Holy Spirit) is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace”.  Trust the Lord! His Word is true, so if the above verse, Ephesians 4:32, is in the living, active, powerful Word of God, then we have the ability to forgive with His help.  Feelings don’t matter.  We walk by faith.  By faith, forgive that person.   Let all your anger and bitterness go in Jesus name.   Pray for them and thank The Lord, because He will help you.

You don’t have to necessarily forget the situation, although that can happen, but you will see the bitterness leave and the remembering will no longer be painful.  Joseph in the Bible  (Genesis 50) remembered what his brothers did to him but he was not bitter, he forgave them.

Trust God today with your hurts and with any unforgiveness.  He loves you so much AND He loves that person!
