Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

As we discussed yesterday, Biblical Hope is extremely important to the believer.  Without Biblical Hope, you can have no Biblical Faith.  Biblical hope is not just wishing something will work out, biblical hope has a strong expectation of a positive outcome, regardless of how terrible a situation appears.  Biblical Hope is very powerful, and is the springboard to biblical faith.  An indicator as to whether you have biblical hope, or if you are just in the wishing department is, true biblical hope results in one switching from a negative and doubtful mindset to a positive, expectant mindset.  Let me show you, Titus 2:13: we are awaiting with hope the soon return of Jesus.  As a Christian, we have a positive and confident expectation of the return of our Lord Jesus.  We KNOW he is coming for us, but we also know it is future tense, we are patiently and expectantly WAITING on his return.  That's hope and that is our FUTURE as a believer.  Our faith has no power to hasten the return of our Lord Jesus,  because God has already appointed the hour and the time, and our faith does nothing to change that.  What we are looking at is hope.  We don't wonder if he is coming back, we know he is and have a confident and positive expectation of that glorious event!  We know what the end of the story is, Jesus is returning for us and we are waiting expectantly for that!  This is a wonderful example of the beauty of hope that resides within the believers heart.  So notice, with biblical hope, there is no fear, depression, sadness that the situation will not work out.  Listen to what I am about to say very carefully, it is an important key to getting out of and staying out of fear.  If you still have some fear about your current situation you actually need to go back and meditate on the love that God has for you because you are not dwelling in the love of God.  How do I know this? Because 1 John 4:18 says:  "Such love has NO FEAR, because perfect (mature) love expels all fear.  If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love." When we understand the love that God has for us, it aids us in driving out all manner of fear from our lives.  Fear has a dreadful expectation, it's expects further tragedy and undue punishment.  This can be resolved by understanding and knowing the love that God has for us.  Look at 1 John 4:16: "And we have KNOWN and BELIEVED the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."  There are two parts to this verse in order to expel fear, first you must KNOW and then you must BELIEVE the love that your Father has for you.  Once you know and believe this then your hope will spring forth.  If someone has no hope left fear, depression, dark thoughts and sadness will be present, and the first step to get out of that is to begin meditating and rehearsing out loud scriptures concerning the love that God has for you so that hope can spring up in the heart.  Once hope is there, you will know it because that situation that once seemed utterly barren and lifeless, now has a positive and confident outlook for the future.  Once Biblical Hope springs up in the heart, now you can begin progressing towards Biblical faith.  Look how closely faith and hope are connected: Hebrews 11:1:  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
You see, you must first have hope before you can have faith, and then faith is the bolster for your hope. Faith assures you that what you have hoped for has already taken place whether or not your physical eyes can see it yet.
