The Good News is - SO GOODWednesday, May 25, 2016
1 Corinthians 2:1-5
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
I recently listened to a sermon by Gregory Dickow and he mentioned how there are so many churches with great music and attractive sermons but no power. Have you ever been to a church like that?
When you've been to a service and have seen for yourself the Holy Spirit move, it's difficult to go back to just good music.
The world has no idea what they're missing and sadly, most of the church has no idea what they're missing. Too many people have been satisfied with natural services rather than supernatural services.
I love what Paul says in verse 4, "And my speech and preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power."
Paul preached the good news of the gospel, but he didn't just preach it, he demonstrated it.
Do you know what the good news of the gospel is!?
Luke 4:18-19 says, "The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord."
The good news of the gospel is that the poor don't have to be poor. The sick don't have to be sick, and the captives can be set free! The good news of the gospel is SOO GOOD!!! Paul didn't only preach this good news, he demonstrated it. He had the Holy Spirit manifest through him.
I have good news for you, friends.
You don't have to be sick, you don't have to be held captive, you don't have to be poor, you don't have to be powerless.
Jesus gave us the victory. Receive this good news for yourself and then go and preach it by demonstration. Allow the power of God to work in and through you.
