Last night I woke up around 1:00 AM and was WIDE awake. I talked to the Lord for a little while, and asked Him what I should do...hoping He would say, "GO BACK TO SLEEP!" Instead, He led me to listen to a podcast on fear. It was a long podcast so I ended up finishing it first thing in the morning.
As I drove to the gym I thought to myself how strange it was that the Holy Spirit led me to listen to that. I thought I was fearless!
Later in the day, I was going to call someone and stood there looking at my phone for about 5 minutes. I was afraid to call! It was ridiculous! The sermon came rushing back to me, but do you know what? I STILL didn't make the phone call. It was a small thing, but we serve a perfect God who calls us to be like Him. We are called to be fearless not only in the big situations- but in ALL situations. He cares about the details!
As I was getting ready for bed I finally read the devotion my dad sent to my family. I had been putting off reading it all day, not for any specific reason, other things just kept coming up. Well, guess what the devotion was on? FEAR!
The first verse listed in his morning devotion text was 1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."
We serve a God who cares about every detail of our lives. He cares about the tiny, seemingly meaningless fear you may have. He cares about your finances, your health, your decisions, your relationships, and every single aspect of your life!
He loves you and sent the Holy Spirit to help you! Listen to what He is saying to you, He has great advice! And next time you notice fear rise up, tell it to go and then make the phone call! : )
